Pre-employment medical check-up consultation at WeCare Clinic Kuala Lumpur

Most Malaysian employers will ask for a medical examination before confirming employment in order to ensure that the applicant is suited for the position and for meeting any company or industry standards. Pre-employment medical examinations in our branches in Ukay Boulevard, Desa Melawati and Setiawangsa are offered by WeCare Clinic, with accurate reporting that applicants and employers can trust.

If you are an applicant who needs a medical examination for your employment offer, or an HR department that needs a medical examination process for their new hires, our pre-employment screening is the best way to go.

What the Examination Covers

A pre-employment medical checkup usually involves a combination of the following, depending on the job type and/or particular employer guidelines:

Component Details
General physical exam Height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, and overall physical condition
Review of any medical history Any existing illnesses, medication, or particular medical history
Basic blood tests Usually full blood count, blood sugar level, and any other parameters that may be needed for the particular job
Vision and hearing tests Particularly if relevant to the job type
Urinalysis A usual element in pre-employment screening packages
Chest X-ray or lung function test If needed for particular jobs; arranged through referral, as X-ray equipment is not available at WeCare Clinic
Medical fitness for the job test Doctor’s overall assessment of medical suitability for the particular job

Required Documents

In order to ensure that your medical examination goes without a hitch, please bring along the following:

  • Identification – NRIC or passport
  • Medical check-up form from the company, if available – many companies provide their own medical check-up form which states the tests needed
  • Employment letters or employment documents from your employer if needed
  • List of medications that you are currently on, if any
  • Medical history documents, especially if you suffer from a certain condition that is related to the job

If you are unsure about what your employer is asking for, it would be wise to ask your employer.

Report Timeline

Pre-employment medical examinations usually take only one visit to complete, although the turnaround of results varies according to the type of testing done:

Test Type Expected Turnaround
Physical exam results Generally known at the time of your appointment
Basic blood test results Normally available within 1 to 3 business days
X-ray referral results Depends on the turnaround period of the radiology centre, normally within a few days
Consolidated final report Prepared once all results are received, then provided to the applicant or employer

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a pre-employment medical check-up take?

The duration of the test is usually about 30 to 45 minutes, although extra time is necessary if blood tests or any other tests have to be done. It may take a few days after this period to get full results, depending on the tests being carried out.

Can the report be sent directly to my employer?

Yes, it can be arranged depending on what your employer wants from you. Some people prefer to get their own results first. Please tell us how you would like to arrange the testing when you are booking.

What happens if the check-up identifies a health concern?

If any problem has been detected, it will be informed by the doctor and he will give advice on what needs to be done. The decision on whether the results affect the employment process is made by the employer depending on job requirements.

Do I need to fast before a pre-employment check-up?

In case a blood sugar or cholesterol test is ordered, you may need to fast for 9 to 12 hours before coming to the clinic. Please ask our specialists during booking.

Does WeCare Clinic accept insurance for pre-employment check-ups?

Pre-employment health check-ups are usually covered directly by the employee or employer, not by insurance. Please call us to arrange your test and make payment.
